Description: The role will be based around contributing to the development, promotion and implementation of the Traffic and Transport policies and objectives. Focused on delivering Traffic and Transportation improvements within the borough the role will also entail various schemes such as traffic management, planned maintenance work and large scale footways/ carriageways. The main roles and responsibilities will include:

• Implementation of specific programmes and projects;

• To undertake the detail design, contract preparation and management associated with complex street scene and transport infrastructure projects including the preparation of any feasibility studies and specialist investigations;

• Public consultation on specific projects;

• Monitoring and review of projects and programmes.

• To contribute to the management of the Street Scene Design group by ensuring that
the assigned projects and programmes are delivered in line with the business
plan targets.

• To deputise for the Senior Engineer on specific projects in assigned areas.

As a Traffic Engineer you will require a relevant degree, general experience as or within the Civil Engineering sector and have an understanding of relevant UK codes. Being a confident and well presented individual will prove advantageous for this position as you will be required to represent the Council in relation to work undertaken by the post holder. Experience with basic Microsoft packages and the ability to conversant in AutoCAD is also beneficial.
